Past Laurel Girls State Senators

"My week at Laurel Girls State was one of the best of my life. One of my favorite experiences was creating the ‘town charter’ for Doddville. It was one of the first activities we did at LGS and it was interesting to see the different ideas people brought to the table. More importantly, writing the charter was the first time Doddville really came together as a town and actually got to know one another. It’s hard to pick out a particular moment or memory from LGS because I truly enjoyed my week at LGS.

"When I found out that I was chosen to be a Girls Nation Senator, I honestly could not believe it. I was so shocked and honored. Girls Nation was amazing. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet girls from across the country and see points of views that differed from my own. Having the opportunity to volunteer at Walter Reed Hospital, meet President Obama and participate in a mock Senate session, was incredibly awesome.

"The experiences I had at Laurel Girls State and Girls Nation are irreplaceable and I loved my time there. If you are going to LGS, I know you will enjoy yourself and I would definitely recommend running for Girls Nation because no matter the outcome, you will not regret it."

"I loved how close our community, Grasso City, was. I remember one day in particular, when we did a cheer coming into the dining hall. Everyone looked at us like we were crazy, but we were having so much fun, we didn't care.

"Girls Nation was one of the most eye-opening experiences I have ever had. Coming together with so many passionate, politically-minded girls helped me to be much more open minded, and taught me that listening is often a more valuable skill than talking. I became much more aware of the different types of people that make up our great nation, but also learned that no matter where you come from, you can form friendships that will last a lifetime."
